This loop follows the old wagon road from Plasse's Resort on the way to Mud Lake. After a peaceful 30-minute break by the water, we ride back on a trail that passes the old "Kit Carson" tree. The trail continues by the Allen Ranch before descending the switchbacks into the Silver Lake Basin.
